About

The Hereford Issue is an online voice for fairness and equality. It seeks to build a local movement to achieve three key objectives:

1. Real democracy – This means improving our political system by creating new community assemblies and putting decision-making powers into the hands of local people. It also means support for democratic economic models and community ownership: worker- and consumer-cooperatives, local, publicly-owned services and not-for-profit enterprises.

2. A greener future – Herefordshire is a beautiful county and we must speak for its rivers, woods and meadows. We should enrich our towns and neighbourhoods, strengthening biodiversity and creating cleaner outdoor environments. We need to play our part in halting a looming climate and ecological catastrophe.

3. Equality and kindness – We each have a duty to respect and support our friends and neighbours. This means ending discrimination of all kinds and working for a world where everyone has plenty. As the saying goes, 'when you have more than you need build a longer table, not a bigger fence'.
